Not only does the Xbox 360 offer a great selection of games and incredible graphics, it also offers useful features like online play. It's no wonder that this is one of the most popular gaming consoles ever sold.

However, there are some technical issues which a lot of Xbox 360 users could do without. These issues can be spotted by the color of the lights around the power button. When everything is working well, all of these lights are green - but in case of errors, these lights will turn red.

These red lights indicate hardware failures or other errors. The different kinds of red lights which may be lit on your Xbox indicate different problems. Some are easy to remedy, while some may require shipping your console to Microsoft for repair. Knowing the meanings of these lights lets you know what's going on with your Xbox.

One red light tells you that there is a problem with your Xbox 360's scaler chip - this is the chop which sends the display signal to your monitor or TV set. This is a problem which usually requires you to send your Xbox 360 in to be fixed. This is usually fixed pretty quickly, however since it tends to be a minor problem.

2 red lights indicate overheating. If you see these, shut down your console at cheap internet service and allow it a few hours to cool. Don't keep your Xbox in a cabinet while you play - keep it out where air can circulate around it; this can prevent your Xbox 360 from overheating.
